    The year of the Snake is well into its 2nd quarter and this is just as good a time to break great news. Marshall Day Acoustics has been appointed as acoustic consultant for the Jiangsu Grand Theatre project in Nanjing, a capital city of Jiangsu province in eastern China. The Jiangsu Grand Theatre has been more than a decade in the minds of the provincial government of Jiangsu. The project is one of the largest performing arts projects in China with a budget of RMB 2b on a site of 200,000 square meters.

    Each year, Marshall Day Entertech provide an award to an outstanding graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Production Course. The recipient of the award for 2012 was Maddie Seach.

    The Performing Arts Centre on The Concourse in Chatswood has announced a successful bid to become the home base for the new Australian chapter of the International Theatre Institute. Read the full article from the North Shore Times here.

    Such is the high standard of technical equipment and layout at the Concourse's theatre and concert hall that Juliusmedia are providing training for live production in theatre and venues.  Courses are being provided in the basics of stage lighting and sound.

    The Cube, Wodonga's new performing arts centre, was officially opened on Friday 24th August. The $11.5 million facility includes a 410 seat auditorium, restaurant and bar and community space and will host theatre productions, concerts, film screenings, community events and conferences.

    The Albany Entertainment Centre has won an award at the Archizinc Trophy Awards presented in Paris. A seven member international jury landed the building for its "elegant response" to its waterfront setting and its role as a new "city crown - a monumental sculpture and a focal point of a renewal waterfront landscape." The building's form is inspired from Crystalline Shapes - "a flawless crystal, a cut diamond." Seen from a far the "overall impression is of an object carved out of a solid."

    The Oamaru Opera House has received the Heritage award at the New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards, New Zealand's premier architecture competition. "In this perfectly pitched project, a fine but neglected provincial opera house has been successfully redeveloped as a magnificent resource for its town."

    The Mercury has published an article on the brand new performance space in the St Mary's Cathedral Centre. Designed by architect Robert Morris-Nunn Marshall Day provided acoustic consultancy services.
